Editing a Case Study

 Develop a case study.docx (sharepoint.com

This is a link to a word document that expands on the opening of a movie and identifies the shots, angles, and movements, suggests what it means, and the distance movement/ angles used. How the audience should feel, technical decisions, whether framing is open or closed, depth of field, and how the rule of thirds has been used, and identifies how it aids in the construction of meaning. There is a YouTube video link in the document showing the opening of the movie "Where Hands Touch" which I chose for this assignment, because I had recently watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also figured in the opening scene it showed quite a few camera shots, angles, and movements I could identify along with many advanced technical elements.

This film takes place in World War II and is about a girl named Leyna who is a Black German teenager. During this time, she was often discriminated against due to her race, but fell in love with a Hitler youth German soldier. Leyna was eventually split from her mother where she was put into a camp but reunited with her family in the end. However, at the end Leyna also saw the love of her life which was a German Soldier. Unfortunately, he was shot just before they could reach each other and be reunited. In this assignment I analyzed the first minute or so of this opening and explained different elements and clips of the film opening. This helped me acquire the understanding of what a good film opening could look like, giving me an idea of what concepts I can use when I create my final film opening project.

Week 9: Finishing on Adobe

This week on Adobe I worked to completely finish the editing portion of the film project. Olivia was able to find audios to go with the film, so I imported the audios and placed them where I thought they would be good, and where Olivia had suggested putting them. I also needed to figure out with the audio how to adjust some clips. So, I asked Mr. Z how and just learned how to audio gain on certain clips. I adjusted the sound on the music I imported to be louder in some areas or be quieter in order to hear the original audio at the same time. Also, with sound in the same clip being louder I could either take the eraser tool and snip that portion then adjust the audio gain, or I had Mr. Z show me how to adjust the sound of one part of a clip by dragging points into the sound and adjusting those points, which was smoother than just snipping it. After this, to make the audio smoother I included exponential fades into the audio to either fade the sound in or out. I...
