- There are numerous limiting factors in this series. One major limitation could be the presence of the parallel universe called the Upside Down, which is filled with dangerous creatures and supernatural forces. Another limitation could be the event happening in Hawkins in which the characters cannot reveal to the public, such as many dangerous experiments and different occurrences appearing in Hawkins. Another limiting factor could be the protagonists ages, because they could have a lack of experience and knowledge.
- There are also many characters in stranger things who don't fit the mold. One of these characters could be Steve Harrington, who starts off as a popular self-centered jock. However, as the series progresses, he undergoes significant character development and turns into a more compassionate heroic figure. Another example of a character breaking the mold could be Robin Buckley. She starts off as a witty and intelligent character who works with Steve at the Scoops Ahoy ice cream shop. Robin then assists the kids and teenagers on their journey and her character develops into a more important role.
- There are several characters in stranger things that could signify a change in society from a social and cultural perspective. One character could be Eleven, her character represents being the outsider and focuses on her challenges with being "different." Again, the characters Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley represent a change in society because Steve transforms from a mean popular character in the beginning of the show to a more caring person as the show goes on. This shift goes against societal norms and challenges the stereotypes associated with certain social groups. Whereas Robin, associates the LGBTQ+ community into the show, which highlights the changing attitudes and acceptance in society during that time period.
