In my opinion filming and editing went really well this week, and we were able to accomplish a lot with this project. A main thing that went well was being able to successfully refilm the bathroom scenes to our liking by adding in different concepts to the film and adding more personality for the characters the second time filming. Another thing that went well was the editing process, because I was able to continue putting scenes together, and start speeding up clips, trimming them, and unlinking different scenes from their sound to add music over. So, for the most part this week went well with filming and editing.
Unfortunately, during this week's filming process, Olivia and I did get in a minor disagreement with the filming. Originally with the bathroom scenes we were going to focus in on the drugs and alcohol the characters were using and develop their personalities through that. This was until Olivia took a picture with a man filter on and wanted to incorporate that into our film. I wasn't super keen on it at the time, so we decided to just record both scenes with and without the added character, which it was then decided the character could be kept in the film, because the scenes still flowed well together. Another disagreement we had was when Harpers character was attempting to express how cute the introduced Matt guy is. Olivia wanted Taylor (plays Harpers character) to bark to show her outgoing character and show that she thinks Matt is really cute. I disagreed with this because it didn't seem to fit our genre of movie and was more incorporating comedy into the film than a horror/ slasher genre.
Apart from this Olivia also had an idea to write the word "Matt" across a piece of paper and tape it onto the hoodie she would be wearing to display the "bad guy." This was so the audience could get the idea of who the killer is, and why we decided to add Matt into the film. Again, I wasn't sure of this, because I believe it would ultimately show a somewhat comedy side of our film, which is not what is intended. So, Overall, we decided against taping the word "Matt" on her hoodie, but we will keep the idea of Matt's character in the film. There is still more to be discussed upon the scene of Taylor barking, and after Wednesday when we filmed, I continued to work on the editing and kept updating Olivia on what I was performing with editing, but she has yet to respond to my messages about the project, so I am inferencing she may be upset with the decisions of the film, so this leaves us to discuss next week what we will do about the bathroom scene.
