Week 6: Post-Production Activities

I have been the main coordinator with our editing process, so what has been accomplished so far with editing is all the scenes we have been able to record have been put in order, and I have been able to trim all of these recordings to go into the next scene correctly. I also have been able to add FX on a few of the scenes. For example, when everyone is in the room partying and the camera shot is an ariel shot (overhead) I sped up those clips, so they take less time out of our film, and show time passing. This still gives the audience an idea of what is happening. I also added a transition between these two clips we got of us partying, so they seamlessly fade and transition into each other., showing time passing by. More FX I included was also positioning and scaling a few scenes that looked out of the frame, or needed to be zoomed in/ out, or moved side to side to look more center.

The other FX I attempted to use was during the bathroom scenes. When editing them in adobe they looked really blurry, so I asked Mr. Z what to do about this, and he had me change the saturation to try and make the images appear clearer. This worked fairly well, but I still had doubts about how the scenes would turn out after exporting. So, I decided (with Mr. Z's help) to export only those scenes to see if they were blurry after it was exported to the flash drive. When I did this, it actually wasn't blurry, so I removed the saturations and left it how they were even though they were blurry in adobe. Lastly, in the bathroom scenes when Olivia was directing, she accidentally got a visual of the phone using to record in the bathroom mirror. When editing it was okay, because I asked Mr. Z what we could do about it instead of re-recording the scene. He said if there is time, we could do some color correcting to try and get rid of the exposed phone.

Besides what has already been done, there are still a few things left with editing that needs to be completed, which is the transitions in a few other scenes that aren't just the ariel shot part scenes. Music also needs to be entered into the project, which hopefully Olivia will be working on over break. We also need to add our movie title texts, production company name, and opening credits (editors, directors, actors, and photographers). We also have to finish refilming/ filming a few other scenes, then we can import those into the project.

Week 9: Finishing on Adobe

This week on Adobe I worked to completely finish the editing portion of the film project. Olivia was able to find audios to go with the film, so I imported the audios and placed them where I thought they would be good, and where Olivia had suggested putting them. I also needed to figure out with the audio how to adjust some clips. So, I asked Mr. Z how and just learned how to audio gain on certain clips. I adjusted the sound on the music I imported to be louder in some areas or be quieter in order to hear the original audio at the same time. Also, with sound in the same clip being louder I could either take the eraser tool and snip that portion then adjust the audio gain, or I had Mr. Z show me how to adjust the sound of one part of a clip by dragging points into the sound and adjusting those points, which was smoother than just snipping it. After this, to make the audio smoother I included exponential fades into the audio to either fade the sound in or out. I...
