Week 6: Production Process + Reflection

This week we were unable to organize any days for filming, so we will most likely try to get our last few scenes in over spring break which is this next week. Due to this I have mainly just been focused on editing with help from Mr. Z in class, which he has been able to answer questions about the project and what would complement our film using adobe.

Other than this, to follow up with the other bloggers, I made a group chat with everyone who has helped with the filming process a few weeks ago; so, everyone can discuss, and we can figure out what days for filming work with everyone. Other than this, Olivia continued to ignore my messages about the project until Thursday when she answered back to my messages saying that she was upset with me because I hadn't returned our filming equipment, and I wanted to redo a lot of scenes in the film. I answered back saying that I would return the equipment when we were done with it. I did mention to her I was also upset because I have done all of the editing up to now without any of her help, which she just mainly came up with ideas for the project, but since we already have moved past what the film will look like, its mainly just editing that needs work. I also stated that over spring break to help with editing she needed to find the music and sound effects we would use. I also did get a little salty and tell her she would need to find her own rides to filming from now on since I had been using my gas to provide rides to everyone.

She responded that she hadn't been editing because she was out sick for three days, and that if I needed any help editing, I could have asked, and she was unaware that I started to edit past putting the clips in order. She also said my friend that I had brought to help film was distracting me, but also was shy and didn't communicate with anyone, making her friends she brought, and her awkward. She also hinted at the fact my friend was not really useful in the film. Again, she mentioned me wanting to refilm a lot of scenes which is annoying to her. I replied with everything I have done with editing so far to prove that have done more than just putting scenes in order, and I said that if her friends and her would try to communicate with my friend it wouldn't have been as awkward. I also stated that the more people the better, and the fact that my friend is letting us use her car for one of the scenes shows she is useful in the project. I also stated the reason we needed to refilm scenes is because when she directed them, she left out parts in the script, or made errors in filming, such as picturing the camera used to record in the frame of the scene.

After that, she simply replied to my message with a laughing emoji. We haven't discussed anything further over text other than what was stated. We hopefully will be able to record over spring break and work out more then. For now, we are leaving it at what was said over text, and we will try to organize filming days for break since we still need to shoot a few scenes.

Week 9: Finishing on Adobe

This week on Adobe I worked to completely finish the editing portion of the film project. Olivia was able to find audios to go with the film, so I imported the audios and placed them where I thought they would be good, and where Olivia had suggested putting them. I also needed to figure out with the audio how to adjust some clips. So, I asked Mr. Z how and just learned how to audio gain on certain clips. I adjusted the sound on the music I imported to be louder in some areas or be quieter in order to hear the original audio at the same time. Also, with sound in the same clip being louder I could either take the eraser tool and snip that portion then adjust the audio gain, or I had Mr. Z show me how to adjust the sound of one part of a clip by dragging points into the sound and adjusting those points, which was smoother than just snipping it. After this, to make the audio smoother I included exponential fades into the audio to either fade the sound in or out. I...
