Week 4: Changes to Project & Why

During filming it was a little hectic since there was quite a bit of us, so we forgot to film a few scenes on Monday. However, we did end up filming them and then refilming a few other scenes when we met on Friday. Along with filming, I also began editing which I am mostly in charge of with Olivia's help if needed. With editing this week, I mainly just started putting scenes together in order and made sure they all flowed okay. I did notice while editing in a few scenes the lighting was a bit off and some scenes were lighter than they should have been based on the time of day the film was set to take place. The scenes where the "grandma" was saying goodnight were in a brighter lighting and there were windows indicating it was daytime in those scenes, when it was supposed to be around 7:00. So, we re-recorded those scenes on Friday when we met, so it was darker.      Along with those scenes being too bright, there was a scene with the main charac...

Week 4: Production Process + Reflection

On Monday 2/19 we had school off, so I picked up Olivia and her sister Brie to start filming at around 2:00pm and we went to the store to pick up a cake and frosting for the film. Then we went and picked up Taylor, Lizzie, and Alyssa to help us film. Olivia was the main director this day with assistance from me, and Brie, Taylor, Lizzie, Alyssa, and my godmother were the actors. Lizzie was the main character (Ivy), Brie was Ivy's sister (Willow), my godmother was Ivy's grandma, then everyone else was Iv's best friends. So, Taylor was Harper, Alyssa was Scarlett, and Haylee (me) was Amber. We spent until 5:00pm filming with everyone and got a little over half of our filming done. We were able to shoot the birthday scenes, party scenes, and bathroom scenes, and even attempted to film the scene of Ivy and her friends sneaking out of the house. Then throughout the week we began putting together our scenes that we were able to film on adobe and started editing them...

Week 4: Key Moments + Reflection

On our filming days we were able to meet on Monday 2/19 and Friday 2/23 in which we were able to film over half our scenes Monday (which was a school holiday) then re-record or record new/ missing scenes on Friday. I would want to say a key moment with our project so far was successfully having everyone talk and really get to know each other, causing the filming days to go by quick and easy. Before filming we usually went to either Chipotle, Chick-Fil-A, or Mcdonalds to eat before filming which allowed us all to get to know each other better which in turn also helped each of us play our parts more naturally, since in the film we would have to be interacting with each other a lot of the time.      During the production process it was definitely very fun to film with everyone. I believe since a few of us were friends before, and we were able to all come closer while filming it definitely made all of the difference when doing this project. Olivia and I a...

Week 3: Storyboard

In this first part of the story board, we showed our original idea of  It starting with a tear-stained girl, drenched in blood, walking down the street in front of an abandoned building (camera angle is very low pointing up at her from the waist up). Hair clumped together from the blood, showing no emotion, fatly limping down the street. She doesn’t try to scream for help or run, showing that she has slowly lost everything and/or gave up. It's gloomy and dark but not too dark you can't see her face expressions. Lamps are illuminating her face and her background settings. The camera slowly g oes into an over the shoulder shot for the audience to see a truck slowly turn ing the corner with its headlights on and just starts coming at her. The camera then transitions into a close-up of the girl to see her breathing heavily as she hears the roars coming from the truck. After a few s econds the camera goes back into an over the shoulder shot because she faces her back toward...
