Week 9: Film Result

YouTube video to Olivia Courtright and Haylee Boyer's final 2-minute opening movie titled "Birthday Bloodbath."

Week 9: Finishing on Adobe

This week on Adobe I worked to completely finish the editing portion of the film project. Olivia was able to find audios to go with the film, so I imported the audios and placed them where I thought they would be good, and where Olivia had suggested putting them. I also needed to figure out with the audio how to adjust some clips. So, I asked Mr. Z how and just learned how to audio gain on certain clips. I adjusted the sound on the music I imported to be louder in some areas or be quieter in order to hear the original audio at the same time. Also, with sound in the same clip being louder I could either take the eraser tool and snip that portion then adjust the audio gain, or I had Mr. Z show me how to adjust the sound of one part of a clip by dragging points into the sound and adjusting those points, which was smoother than just snipping it. After this, to make the audio smoother I included exponential fades into the audio to either fade the sound in or out. I...

Week 9: CCR Production

This week for the creation of CCR's I really focused on preparing them and what app I will create them on and what CCR will go onto which app. After looking over each CCR I decided which one would be fit for each creation and app. In the end I decided to do CCR 1 with an interview on Adobe Premiere Pro, CCR 2 as a podcast on Adobe Audition, CCR 3 as a voiceover of a presentation on Sway (edited on Adobe Audition), and finally CCR 4 as a vlog video on YouTube (edited on Adobe Premiere Pro).  CCR #1:      For CCR #1 I went over to my sister-in-law's house to get her help to Interview me. Which we were able to successfully record a video with the CCR questions, and I was able to answer them. I then imported this interview into adobe and started trimming certain parts, because the video was around 10 minutes. I was able to trim it to 7 minutes, then adjust the sound throughout the interview, checking the levels of the video. After the sound was all co...

Week 8: Post-Production and CCR Production

We finished filming last week! Because of this, I uploaded all of the scenes in order and put them in the correct sequence over break after filming. This made it easy to begin going through and trimming clips, this week since our project was about 3 mins and 30 sec. I ended up meeting with Olivia in class and we were able to watch through the film and find clips we could trim or get rid of. We were able to trim it to around 2 mins and 40 sec. I continued to work on reaching this time limit on adobe and kept trimming, speeding up, or getting rid of unimportant clips. By the end of the week with all of this applied I cut it to 2 mins and 16 sec. Other than trimming, Olivia was able to find audios to include in our film; so, she added them onto her flash drive then transferred it to mine. I also attempted putting our production name and movie title on there as well and started adding few transitions. Next week to finish editing we just have to add audio and put in fina...

Week 7: Post-Production

This week we finished all of our filming, so we just needed to import the final clips into adobe, then add transitions, audio, and possibly cut out some time from out film. This week I was unfortunately very busy with work and family events; However, after we filmed out last few scenes, I imported them on adobe and put them in the correct place and trimmed a few scenes, so the film was shorter. But even with this, it was still about a 3-minute film. After I did this, I decided I would just leave the trimming, music, and transitions until next week when I could talk everything out with Olivia.     Since Olivia didn't have my flash drive, I went ahead and did the editing from my laptop at home, but since she wasn't editing, I had her find sounds to go over a few clips in the film. I was able to unlink a few clips and delete the audio, so when I sent Olivia a recording of the film on adobe, she was able to observe what clips needed music. Hopefully when we ge...

Week 7: Production Process

During week 7, since it was spring break Olivia and I had everyone get together to help finish filming the last few scenes of our opening. We met at around 7 at our abandoned building location and originally planned to only film the scene of everyone outside the building and everyone exploring it then the "bad guy" appears. After filming those we realized we actually had enough time if we wanted to film the very first scene of our film which is having the main character Ivy limp with blood all over her in front of the building when the "bad guy" appears and hits her over the head with a bat. I already had the blood and props there with me, so we successfully filmed all of our remining scenes March 12th with just editing to focus on from here out.     To update about Olivia and I's relationship, nothing else was said over text then what I already explained, but when we met up to finish recording, we both seemed fine with each other. However, I still felt te...

Week 6: Production Process + Reflection

This week we were unable to organize any days for filming, so we will most likely try to get our last few scenes in over spring break which is this next week. Due to this I have mainly just been focused on editing with help from Mr. Z in class, which he has been able to answer questions about the project and what would complement our film using adobe.      Other than this, to follow up with the other bloggers, I made a group chat with everyone who has helped with the filming process a few weeks ago; so, everyone can discuss, and we can figure out what days for filming work with everyone. Other than this, Olivia continued to ignore my messages about the project until Thursday when she answered back to my messages saying that she was upset with me because I hadn't returned our filming equipment, and I wanted to redo a lot of scenes in the film. I answered back saying that I would return the equipment when we were done with it. I did mention to her I was...

Week 6: Post-Production Activities

I have been the main coordinator with our editing process, so what has been accomplished so far with editing is all the scenes we have been able to record have been put in order, and I have been able to trim all of these recordings to go into the next scene correctly. I also have been able to add FX on a few of the scenes. For example, when everyone is in the room partying and the camera shot is an ariel shot (overhead) I sped up those clips, so they take less time out of our film, and show time passing. This still gives the audience an idea of what is happening. I also added a transition between these two clips we got of us partying, so they seamlessly fade and transition into each other., showing time passing by.  More FX I included was also positioning and scaling a few scenes that looked out of the frame, or needed to be zoomed in/ out, or moved side to side to look more center.      The other FX I attempted to use was during the bathroom sce...

Week 5: Production Process + Reflection

For filming this week, we were able to meet on Wednesday 2/28 after school, which this day we really only refilmed the bathroom scenes in which we also added to for more character development. Before hand, we just had them do drugs and alcohol with the props we had and somewhat act drunk and laugh a lot. Instead of this we decided to add a little more dialogue between the two characters to get to know more of their personalities. The main character is more inexperienced, but still likes to fit in with the crowd, while her best friend in this film is super boy crazy and likes to party a lot. So, in this part of the 2-minute opening we decided to sort of develop their characters in this. In a few of the scenes I was able to help record I attempted to use the rule of thirds in a few scenes to direct the audience more towards what is happening in the film.     Other than filming, I've continued to work on the editing by continuing to add the scenes in order, a...

Week 5: Key Moments + Reflection

In my opinion filming and editing went really well this week, and we were able to accomplish a lot with this project. A main thing that went well was being able to successfully refilm the bathroom scenes to our liking by adding in different concepts to the film and adding more personality for the characters the second time filming. Another thing that went well was the editing process, because I was able to continue putting scenes together, and start speeding up clips, trimming them, and unlinking different scenes from their sound to add music over. So, for the most part this week went well with filming and editing.      Unfortunately, during this week's filming process, Olivia and I did get in a minor disagreement with the filming. Originally with the bathroom scenes we were going to focus in on the drugs and alcohol the characters were using and develop their personalities through that. This was until Olivia took a picture with a man filter on and wa...

Week 5: Changes to Project & Why

For filming, there were many changes we made to this project while filming together, but all of the changes were made to the bathroom scene. Originally, we just had the two characters laugh around messing with the drugs and alcohol props that we had, and both the characters (Ivy and Harper) were very pumped and into everything. For dialogue we did have the main character Ivy say "Harper the stuff is under the sink" to get the audiences used to the characters names. Then throughout the rest of the scene they talked about the drugs they were doing. Olivia and I somewhat let our characters make up what they wanted to say to make the scene better which was a good call.          However, on Wednesday we decided to change this scene up to show each of the friend's characters better. The main character Ivy's character is supposed to be more inexperienced and smarter especially in school, but still likes to fit in and follow the crowd, while he...
